Zoo Lok Kawi Sabah

The Lok Kawi Wildlife Park officially open to the public on February 17, 2007. It is located along Penampang-Papar old road. It is fully developed by the Sabah Wildlife Department. Among the inhabitants are the Borneo Pygmy elephants, Sumatran Rhinoceros, Orang utan, Proboscis monkey, Malayan tiger, deer, birds, mouse deer and lots more.

It is estimated 20km from Kota Kinabalu City to the Zoo. Maybe takes around 30 minutes to go there by driving. There also a botanical component. In the Botanical component, there have been jungle trekking along the botanical trail. It is open daily from 9.30am 5.30pm. Entry fees are RM10 (adult-Malaysian), RM20 (adult-non Malaysian) and RM5 (children).

I never been there yet but I get some of the pictures captured by my niece when she went there last year. There also a bird park in there. They put a large shield of steel net to cover some of the forest to prevent it from fly away. They also others animals in the bird park like squirrel. Here are some of the animals in the Zoo but believe me there are more in there.
