Calendar is a system in helping organizing days. It is done by giving names to periods of tome typically day, week, month and year. Periods n calendar are usually synchronized with the cycle of the sun and moon. The english word of Calendar is derived from the word Kalandae which in latin name of the first of every month. There are three types of calendar; Lunar calendar, Lunisolar calendar and Solar calendar.

The Lunar calendar is based on the (month) moon. A lunar calendar year is 12 synodic months long, where a synodic month is the time interval in which the phases of the moon repeat from one full moon to the next and averages 29.53 days. So, a lunar calendar year average 354.37 days long. Because earth takes slightly longer than 365 days to revolve completely around the Sun so most Lunar calendar are no longer use. Exception for Muslim Calendar that used generally in Muslin countries which are near or in Earth torrid zone.

Lunisolar calendar, in which most years are 12 synodic months but a thirtieenth month is inserted every few years to keep the calendar phases with seasons. There are two important surviving lunisolar calendar; the hebrew calendar which is used in by the Jewish religion and Chinease calendar used extensively in eastern Asia.

Lastly, the solar calendar which is based on the lenght of the year. our present calendar is an example.
