Plastic Bag vs Paper Bag

Paper bag or plastic bag when it comes to shopping??? In a new era where everything is modernized to make human life easier but it somehow affected us in the long run. There were tons of garbage piles up all over the world and most of it takes thousands of year to degenerate. People shops almost everyday and in Malaysia generally plastic bag been use the most. There had been a day that I came upon a person that buys candy, just a candy and yet he asks for a plastic bag and there also a man buying a newspapar asking for it. Did they know how affected the Earth will be with all the waste?

Paper comes tree and it started with logging, cutting, printing, packaging, shipping, requires time and heavy labor not to mention amounts of electricity, chemicals and fossil fuels used. But most shopping bag nowdays are made from used paper but how many percent do people recycle?

Meanwhile plastic comes from oil. It is from by-product of the oil. There go through a several process biogechemical manipulation of certain properties of oil into polymers. Plastic is either thrown to the landfill or recycle. But plactic takes longer time to degenerate than paper. Not all plastic can be recycle, the plastic that used for plastic water bottle can be recycle but the white contena mostly used for food taked away can't be recycle.

For me there should be a decrease used of plastic but it is really depend for each person on how much they do really care for their Mother Earth. Even if they used plastic bag, they can used over and over again and cause of the modern technology, the burning of the plastic is much more cleaner this day. Paper bag is also good since paper is recycle most this day.

There are however other solution that will save the usage of paper and plastic. The cotton shopping bag. Most Supermarket Target, Servay and Giant had they own ctton paper bag that customer can buy. some of it may a bit expensive but it is good for the long run. But you can be creative and and made your own shopping bag with your own detail and style and it will much more fun. Happy shopping!
